A highly skilled research engineer with more than 15 years of experience as a part of the French Atomic Energy commission, Blockchain.io Chief Technology Officer Dominique Rodrigues is a graduate of École Normale Supérieure de Cachan and holds a PhD in numerical modeling & high performance parallel computing from Ecole Centrale Paris.

No stranger to innovation, Dominique is a system-oriented entrepreneur who has cofounded two startups. He now looks to tackle crypto-currency trading platforms as he shapes a team of high-performance individuals for the forthcoming European crypto-exchange of trust. Beyond technology strategy and product roadmap, Dominique will especially focus on infrastructure scalability and platform security.

Dominique recently gave an interview to the marketing team of Blockchain.io to discuss his projects and passions in cryptocurrency.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I was born and raised in France and I’ve always been interested in computer innovation. I first gained a wealth of experience applying my studies in numerical modeling with the French Atomic Energy commission, but I knew the time would come when I would branch out and do my own thing. That day came in 2010 when I left the commission to work in cloud technology and would later co-found a startup specializing in transferring standalone software into cloud applications.

I learned quickly with that even the greatest ideas with sufficient financial backing ultimately need effective marketing to really take off. I kept cloud computing as a side project and went on to work in DevOps with the 1-click shopping project Oyst. It was around this time that I began to familiarized myself with blockchain technology. I’m no expert, but I was definitely interested when the opportunity to serve as CTO at Blockchain.io came along.

What are some of the projects you have underway at BCIO?

The main reason I joined BCIO was to avail myself to the opportunity to create a structure for our impressive technical team that’s building the platform. Everyone works very hard every day to maintain top-notch technical development and support.

For now, getting things to scale is top-priority. As the userbase grows, so will our team, and we’ll need to have established persons who can guide newcomers. On the development side, I can’t give too much detail, but I’m excited about bringing cloud services to the total BCIO trading experience. The idea is to automate as much as possible since we want to offer ICO services which others can use as a basis to launch their own ICO. We’ll have more to say on this in time, so users should stay tuned for updates.

What do you look forward to seeing from Blockchain.io and in the greater crypto world?

For me, cryptocurrencies, and especially our project, offer the world creative ways to innovate present economies. I love to see economic development and we have many opportunities before us to change the world with blockchain technology. My goal with every venture is to improve the way things are done and simplify the use of technology. We keep talking about democratization through blockchain, but that means nothing if the ones using it are a select group of techies. If that’s the case then we’ll just replace one group of elites with another. We’ve got to make it simple for everyone to use and trade cryptocurrencies.
